PS4 Dying Light Review
I have been so excited to get my hands on this game since... well since before the Playstation 4 was even released. It has been a horrendously long wait for release and then my play was delayed by my own doing because of sheer business. Nonetheless, here is my review finally.
You start off learning about your mission on a jet. You parachute your way down to the grounds just to be jacked by a group of rebels. This is when you get bitten. I'd warn about a spoiler here, but you can't really spoil the opening scene of the game. Things only get more interesting from here.
The first thing I noticed was that the graphics were somewhat impressive, but not quite what I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, they did a pretty good job. Let me clarify exactly what I mean. Once you get to the building and see the blinding bright outside, you notice how amazing they made the city look. It looks exactly as I would imagine, really. The less impressive part of the graphics is actually the zombies and living humans.
I found this game to be rather immersive but difficult at first. The jumping on to ledges has always been annoying and over exaggerated in most games (think Tomb Raider or Assassins Creed) but I liked the rather parkor feel you get in this game. Just the extra effort required to look at the ledge and hold the jump button to actually grab the ledge make it feel as if I actually accomplished something.
This game also does a great job about making you think before making stupid irrational choices. The first time I feel into a pit of zombies, I just let them kill me thinking "opps I'll just start that over" but then I find out I loose survivor points. Survivor points are used to rank up your character. With each sucessive death you loose more survior points. Ill continue playing this game and give an update to my review soon.
:::10 Hours Gametime Review Update:::
So I am just going to say that I am almost addicted to this game. I have found a few guns, a few better weapons, so its become more fun defeating zombies. I have met several types of zombies, each with their particular strenghts and weaknesses.
The game continues to put me on the edge of my seat, however, the side missions start to drag on a bit. They are always about "Go to the other side of the map, do this, and come back". They definately take a chunk of time to perform.
So far, I give it a.... 83 / 100
